De Sa blames the pitch Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sa has blamed the wet Moses Mabhida Stadium pitch for their poor display in front of goal where they missed three penalties to let Platinum Stars win the MTN8 Cup. De Sa stressed that the wet surface due to heavy rain throughout the day made it difficult for his players to play to their strength. He symphathised with defender Rooi Mahamutsa, strikers Ndumiso Mabena and Lennox Bacela who missed their penalties. “Penalties are like taking insurance for a car you can’t drive around without having onem We practice penalties every Thursday and Friday, but it was not our night.” He also congratulated the Platinum Stars coach: “Congratulation s to Allan Freese, he did a great job. I don’t think the pitch was great for us. The wet surface was heavy on the players’ legs. We knew the danger of set-pieces and conceded. We got more offensive, but they sat back and caught us on counter attack.” Is the pitch to blame?
