Deadlier than other Viruses; Ebola Virus I have always asked - TopicsExpress

Deadlier than other Viruses; Ebola Virus I have always asked myself can there be any disease as strong and as deadly as cancer?. I have never thought for once that the answer will be positive. The day I heard about this viral disease was the day I knew that nightmare at times can be better than reality. Ebola is a viral disesase, it is one of numerous viral Hemorrhagic fvers. It is a severe, often fatal disease. In humans and non-human primates ( such as monkeys, Gorillas and Chimpanzees). Ebola HF is caused by infection with a virus of family filoviridae, genus Ebolavirus. When infection occurs, symptoms usually begin abruptly. The first Ebolavirus species was discovered in 1976 in what is now the democratic republic of the congo near the Ebola river. Since then, outbreaks have appeared sporadically. The prayers of so many Nigerians is that, this disease would have died with the stranger that brought it into the country. The nation in its present state cannot afford to add any more problems with the ones we are battling with. The worst outbreak in history has put a number of contries in west africa in lock down, led to the deaths of nearly 700 people since February. Ebola virus cannot be detected early as it comes with the symptoms of another disease for example Joint and muscle aches and then typically progress to vomitting, diarrhea and in some cases internal and external bleeding. The disease can be contacted through bodily fluids. Which means that hugging and even handshake can be risky. For those of us who love bush meat, the consumption of bush meat is often a precursor to such outbreaks. Ever since the time I heard of d disease, have usually wished the disease was just part of nightmare which will come and go. We can only hope and pray as a nation that this disease would have died with the stranger that brought it to our country.
