Dean Cox has announced his retirement from AFL football, effective at the end of season 2014. An absolute champion of the game, when he debuted for the West Coast Eagles, he was nothing more than a tall, skinny pole with arms and legs...a gangly looking fella who didnt gain admirers with the way he looked on the field. But we all found out he was about to embark on one of the great AFL careers as a hard-working, honest, and highly skilled big man who found a spot very quickly in all Eagles fans hearts. The great man, who has played 286 games, also is a Premiership player from 2006, has won a best and fairest in 2008, and has been an All-Australian selection an amazing 6 times. Looking forward to seeing Big Cox strap on the boots for his last few games, and I wish him all the best as he embarks on a new coaching career within the West Coast Eagles, as our new ruck coach. Love your work Coxy.
