Deandre Kane has always been one of my favorite players. His versatility allows him to be considered a complete player at either guard spot. He possesses an excellent physical make-up at 65 and 200+ lbs and bangs in the post. What most people fail to realize is his ability to read angles and screens. He plays at a pace that allows him to read and react comfortably without wasting movement. A great deal of players waste their movements which is what I call false steps(video on that later). Noticed Kanes footwork in each clip. He moves efficiently with or without the ball and wisely uses the defenders aggressiveness against him. Thats the sign of a very high IQ player. These are type of players that exemplify how the game can and in my humble opinion should be played; efficient movements and using our body as a weapon- not just pounding the basketball 15 times before we pass. In todays era we look at athleticism all too much which allow mistakes from guys like Wayne Selene, a highly touted nba prospect who clearly gambles all to much- thats a lack of discipline and lack of basketball IQ. We cant continue to get caught up in the flashiness of athletes and TEACH - not just let 5 guys go out there and play pick up basketball. We are hurting there future long term. One day Kane will prove to a Gm or scout that hes an NBA quality player on both ends of the floor. Im rooting for this guy.
