Dear 180JV parents, Last night, our LifeGroups finished week - TopicsExpress

Dear 180JV parents, Last night, our LifeGroups finished week two of our “I-dentity” series. Our students live in a world where people are deemed valuable based on their wealth, personality, clothing, attractiveness, athletic ability, or musical talents. Many young people act in certain ways or hang with certain crowds because they believe being friends with these individuals will make THEM more valuable. What if our students broke this cycle? What if they were so clear of their identity in Jesus that they felt the freedom to live differently? That was our focus this week, as we encouraged teenagers to make three choices: Don’t let other people’s opinions define you, don’t focus on just yourself, and don’t focus on other people’s appearances. As you talk with your teenager about this week’s lesson, consider using these questions that tie back to our LifeGroup conversations. • Why does the Bible say that trying to win people’s approval can create problems? • What are some of the signs of a person who lives selfishly? What are some of the signs of a person who lives selflessly? • Think about the last time you were judged or evaluated based on how you looked or dressed or acted. How did you feel? What did you learn from this experience? I pray that you and your family have an incredible week! Pastor Greg
