Dear 4-to-6-a.m.-kitten, I am astounded by your detective skills, finding the rattle filled yarn ball that was lost for weeks. I am impressed by your wisdom- that if you play with it against the floor mirror, bang-rattle-bang-rattle-bang, it is as though you have two toys (and to me as if you have forty, and there are 9 of you). I am proud of you for your ingenuity, that ability to make toys out of a thousand things in the one occupied room of the entire house when I hid said rattler in the bathtub. I mean seriously, the plastic balls on curtain strings-good one. Suspenders straps whose clips hit the wall, a wire hanger sliding back and forth on the floor, and the way you making jumping from bed to floor, windowsill to floor, dresser to floor such a good game for yourself. Who knew you could, in the cover of night, turn yourself into a dropping bowling ball, my little whisper. I particularly enjoy the way that in-between alarm and snooze your roaring purr and somehow least stealthy paws come out while you circumnavigate my face and upper body. Its a good thing you are so pretty, little one and that you occasionally find the time to be needy.
