Dear 908 Family & Friends, This past weekend at The CrossFit - TopicsExpress

Dear 908 Family & Friends, This past weekend at The CrossFit Games North East Regional seemed like it would never get here, and then just like that, it is gone. All the anxiety and nerves have vanished, and what is left are feelings of gratitude, accomplishment, and a burning desire to do it all over again next year. Team 908 went in to this past weekend ranked 18th of 30 teams in the North East. Day 1 proved to be our most challenging as we ended the day in 21st. The team came back Saturday determined to improve our standing, and with a 4th place finish by the ladies on event 4, and a 7th place finish by the guys in event 5, we were making up some significant ground. We ended day 2 in 14th place. Our goal going in to the weekend was to crack the top ten, but at the end of day 2 it seemed impossible given the point spread. We were all looking forward to the first event on day 3, event 7. In practice we had been able to put up decent times, but what we did in Canton shocked us all. We placed 2nd, only being edged out by the team who won the entire region. The time was also the 10th fastest time in any region in the world. We were amazed and proud. Event 8, the last event of the weekend, came and went in a flash. We were one of the few teams to finish the event within the time cap, and we took a 7th place finish. Only tacking on 9 points to our total score for Sunday was good enough to bring team 908 into 10th place overall. We had reached our goal even though it seemed impossible. We could not have been happier with our performances. What might be the biggest story of the weekend at the CF North East Regional was the “Sea of Red,” the supporters of Team 908. You all were easily the loudest and most supportive fans in the stadium. Between cheering for us, and supporting all of the other teams busting their humps, we think you guys ended up having fans in the crowd as well! More than 100 people comprised the sea of red, making it impossible to miss on the live stream. Every time we entered the stadium you all screamed your faces off, and you better believe it was a huge motivation to us. It is hard to hear anything when you are working out, but it was impossible to ignore your “908” chants. You guys made us feel like it didn’t matter how we did, you were still going to cheer the loudest and support us regardless. That feeling of unconditional support is overwhelming, and helped us to do some great things this weekend. “Thank You” just doesn’t quite seem like enough given the time and energy you all put into us this weekend. All I can say is that it is a weekend we will remember for the rest of our lives. Some special shouts outs to those who were very involved with the team over the past several months. Thank you to Lauren Beasley of Total Physical Therapy for putting us back together and helping us through issues that we thought might hold us back. Thank you to Debbie Wilcox for always making time for team 908 despite you being fully booked all the time! You kept us healthy through a few months of very tough training. Thank you to Justin Cotler for writing our workouts and giving our team guidance. Your experience and willingness to help us paid off. Two teams in the top 10, one of which won the region, isn’t too shabby. Thank you to Heather Hurd for getting Xendurance to sponsor team 908. You helped us to stay hydrated and recovered, and for that we are very grateful. Thank you to John Rufino of PR Wraps for making the team custom wrist wraps. They came in handy given all of this weekend’s events. In closing, I just want to say that the love and support we received this past weekend will forever outweigh the memory of a 10th place finish. CrossFit 908 is Erin’s and my home, and we couldn’t be more proud to call you all our family. Love, T&E
