Dear AAPSM Membership --- On behalf of American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine Past President Robert Conenello, DPM, it is with deep regret that I am contacting you to inform you of the cancelation of our “Emerging Concepts in Podiatric Sports Medicine”. This seminar was originally scheduled in conjunction with the New York College of Podiatric Medicine to be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013. After a lengthy conference call last week with Robert Eckles, DPM, Dean, Clinical and Graduate Medical Education at NYCPM, we were told that the response to this seminar had fallen below their expectations and that NYCPM had done all that they could to promote this seminar. After talking with Dr. Eckles this was not the case. Not only did NYCPM omit our scheduled seminar from their website, but they also scheduled a similar seminar less than 4 weeks prior to ours- a seminar where they were able to obtain an educational grant. NYCPM had also agreed to send out email blasts, etc. to New York area podiatrists and NYCPM alumni with information on our meeting. We contacted a few New York podiatrists – including Dr. Conenello himself - who did not recall receiving any publicity on our November 2 seminar. It is frustrating and embarrassing to have to cancel this outstanding seminar that Dr. Conenello had put so much of this heart and soul into. It is hard to compete when similar seminars are being scheduled in such close proximity and are issued more CME credits. It is also sad when it appears that the co-sponsor of the meeting is not 100% behind the seminars success. Again we apologize for any inconvenience. Rita Yates Executive Director
