Dear ALLMEP members, As many of you know, ALLMEP does a substantial amount of work on Capitol Hill, ensuring that Congress continues to fund the USAID CMM program that delivers $10 million dollars into the peace and reconciliation programs. Over 28 members of ALLMEP have been awardees of these grants in the past. Over the weekend Congress passed a $1.1 trillion spending bill. In there, was full funding for the CMM program for FY2015. Though our lobbying and advocacy days, ALLMEP ensured that at a time of diminishing budget and cuts to programs around the world, this program has remained fully funded. This achievement cannot be overstated. For the 7th year in a row, we have ensured full funding to a program at a time where globally, programs are being shut down. In addition to the CMM funding ALLMEP has made significant headway with the International Fund for Israeli Palestinian Peace. On December 4th, Congressman Crowley, a Democrat from New York, and Congressman Fotenberry, a Republican from Nebraska, introduced a bill to create such a fund and asked Congress to provide $50 million dollars to start it. In the next Congress we will be working to line up key co-sponsers and advance this legislation through Congress. The next ALLMEP advocacy day will take place in Washington DC between th March 24th - 25th 2015. Please mark your calendars. Should you have any questions about the work we do in DC please dont hesitate to contact Joel. Dont forget to apply for the GATHER grant below, In Peace and Solidarity, Joel & Huda
