Dear All - the 5th Yvonne Walkerdine Music Bursary is now open for business - please apply up to 5pm on 30th September 2014, but there are a couple of conditions - see below. The Yvonne Walkerdine Music Bursary is an annual award of £500 made to a student who is passionate, creative and inspiring in their music making. It is not an award for the best instrumentalist - it is designed to enable students to reach their potential and to assist in the realisation of specific projects. It is not necessarily awarded to an individual who wishes to make music their career but it will always be awarded to a young person who displays commitment and motivation and who can clearly exhibit these. The committee also makes smaller awards to runners-up. Applicants must be in school years 7-13 as of 1st September 2014 (or the equivalent in home education) and applicants must be resident in the Forest of Dean. Please ask potential applicants to check this 2 points carefully as failure to do so may lead to disqualification. The bursary is awarded via an open audition in front of adjudicators and audience in November and full details of this will be sent out during October.
