Dear All, An update on the technical side of the large marlin caught on Christmas Eve, since is was not weighed in and due to following it will be considered a 950+: If the skipper has weighed a few Granders before and it was released, OR if we got measurements we can call it a Grander. In this case, we would probably just call it is a VERY nice fish 950+. Therefore, for the record books, this fish will be considered 950+ and the fish will be added to the 500+ Club. Note that this is the 2nd addition to the 500+ club in a less than a month for Seychelles with Francois Jackson weighing in a 549lbs Black Marlin on December 3, 2014. SSFC has estimated that the fish has jumped around 8-9ft out of the water and thus provided their statement estimating there is at least 2.5-3ft of the marlin remaining in the water using LJFL measurement. As previously posted, a blue marlin at 11.6ft is scientifically noted to weigh 1023lbs. Since the Grander Club is such a prestigious club, the fish would have to be officially weighed to be added to that club.
