Dear All I am pleased that everybody has enjoyed looking and commenting on the pictures that we have put on facebook from our trip to Dartmoor last Sunday they show the fun a laughter that we had but there are some things they don’t show. The first hour and half we were walking up hill in driving wind and heavy rain and it was very uncomfortable I was to say the least well and truly soaked to the skin (no pictures) digital cameras don’t like getting wet. In these sorts of conditions one doesn’t like to stop because you can get very cold very quickly. The area that we were in was not far from civilization but there are parts of Dartmoor that are very remote. The weather down there can change very quickly and we were lucky in the afternoon the sun came out and the wind dried our clothes. To my mind walking can be one of the best forms of exercise and in most cases it is free but do make sure if you go to the wilder places you are prepared, sensible clothing, some food and water, map and compass even. Hopefully we will be able to post more pictures of future walks for you all to enjoy Dave the one with the hat.
