Dear All, I want to apologize for something I wrote in my rant - TopicsExpress

Dear All, I want to apologize for something I wrote in my rant yesterday. Someone I love very dearly told me that the following...: I appreciate all the working musicians posting, but...a lot of folks posting are opening for me, which doesnt help me wrap my head around this.. ..es off as a straight-up diss, and in retrospect, I think I agree, and Im so very sorry. Rather than delete it, allow me to explain where I thought I was coming from in the midst of my angst...I figure that if *Im* not drawing shite at shows, and you are at a station where youre opening for me, then theres truly not much perspective gained in your trials and tribulations. Kinda like the salamander telling the fish, Damn, my feets is cold and wet... This is especially so as that rant was, for one afternoon, about me. Me. I aired publicly, and I dont apologize for that. I know theres often a price for prodding, and thats as it should be. Its not the cuddly all the time channel here. Frankly, I hate Facebook and its cousins, for tho it forges community of sorts, people often get there loving hi how are ya community here rather than at a Dave Mallet or a Brother Sun coffeehouse concert during the break. Yeah, you can argue that too if you want to, but I know for sure that people have often made some choice tween the drive on Friday evening in the cold to the Red Molly show or stay home with House Of Cards and Facebook splitting the screen in the den. So yeah, this fukkin glowing beeping batch of bits and bytes time vampire is a real beast to be reckoned with. And its great that were in touch and a goddam shame all at the same time. As opposed to the guy that outright called me a dick, this loving person made clear his loving intentions to let me know I was ringing a cracked bell. My rant was still not all for naught. This person capped their reprimand with: >>Your post got me thinking about larger questions too - including how I get through the tough days in this business, and whats important to me too. Im grateful for the provocation, and the conversation. Looking forward to the next time we cross paths.
