Dear All We got some fantastic feedback over the weekend at Manchester, so: First, please forgive me for not being clear about what the heck is going on. This is what the heck is going on: We want to make a big, fantastic movie of The Minister of Chance. In order to do this we must attract major investment. In order to do that, I am writing the script, and Emma is slaving singlehanded night and day to run the office and to raise money. Meanwhile, Dave and team are creating concept art and props. These not only inform the writing, but they give visible shape to the universe of The Minister. This also helps with publicity, and with attracting that crucial investment. It wont have escaped your notice that we are then selling some of these concept props – they arent being produced to make money, but selling them is one way we can fund production. All donations at this stage are going into equipment and materials, and have been absolutely crucial. It is a monumental task to turn the Minister into a movie, but this is why I think we can do it: its good. You think so, and critics thinks so; it has a great cast. it has stunning and unique art and production design (look at the flypast of Durians rocketship in The Prologue and tell me if youve ever seen better CGI? It looks REAL); and it has a fantastic, wildly enthusiastic Worldwide fanbase. It has all this despite having no budget, no publicity, no marketing machinery, its ALL through word of mouth. So, we are going to break the funding down into sections, and were going to do it on Indieogogo. We have had some incredibly generous donations from Chancers, but also of facilities and locations from local businesses in our native Cheshire. We have also managed to work out cost-saving methods of making what we need on screen. Therefore, we reckon we can now complete pre-production for just over £10,000. We desperately need this money for equipment and materials, but also the very detailed legal and accountancy stuff we need to get the big bucks. I know we are asking a lot, and its a huge mountain to climb, but its ALL going on screen. I apologize for not making everything properly clear. This is partly because its just me and Emma in the office now doing the admin (Clare has had to withdraw from working on the film for family reasons), and partly because I am trying to balance it with writing a bulletproof script from under a pile of holidaying small children. Please ask, suggest, berate youre the producers! Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart for powering The Minister ever onward. XXXXXXXX Dan
