Postdoctoral fellow in a SSPL, DRDO sponsored project on “GaN based thin films” at Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar, India Start Date of the Project work: 1st August 2014 End Date of the Project work: 31st March 2015 Duration: 8 months Project sponsored by: Solid State Physics Laboratory, DRDO, Delhi, India Job Description: This position is to work on the project entitled “Microstructural and compositional studies of GaN based thin films and multilayers by employing advanced electron microscopy, ion scattering and X-ray methods”. This project is sponsored by SSPL, DRDO, Delhi. The candidate is expected to prepare TEM specimen either using conventional methods or using focused ion beam milling process. The candidate is expected to perform TEM measurements and x-ray measurements and analyze the results. Essential qualifications: Ph.D. in Materials Science or Physics (those who have submitted the Ph.D. thesis and waiting for the award are also considered). Desirable: Expertise in X-ray scattering (HRXRD/XRR) or electron scattering methods (TEM/SEM), and Specimen preparation methods is/are desirable. Selection Procedure: Selection would be done by a committee duly constituted by the Director, IOP, based on the academic credentials submitted along with application form. Scholarship Value: Post doctoral fellowship would be as per Institute norms. As of now, the following fellowship amount (per month) is given: (a) After submitting the Ph.D. thesis but waiting for the degree: Rs 21,000/= pm (b) With Ph.D. degree : Rs 22,000/= pm (c) With Ph.D. degree and one year experience: Rs 23,000/= pm (d) With Ph.D. degree and two or more years experience after Ph.D.: Rs 24,000/= pm In addition to the above, the candidate is entitled for HRA and Medical benefits as per the existing rules of the Institute. The fellowship amount is to be taken as basic pay for calculation of HRA. HRA is not admissible if hostel/guest house accommodation is provided.
