Dear All, We would like to share another success for the Architecture Department. 5th year student Christiana Karamalli’s project “New Womb Comfort” has being awarded with a Special Mention for Narrative Visualization at the “d3 Natural Systems 2014” international architecture competition. Christiana developed her competition project within the agenda of UNIT 4 [Divining the future- “Technology is the answer, but what was the question?”] (run by Markella Menikou and Adonis Cleanthous). UNIT 4 utilises a range of international architecture competitions as a key pedagogic tool. The competition briefs provide a springboard for ideas and simultaneously the vehicle via which students test concepts and develop their thinking within the unit agenda. All student projects are therefore entries to international competitions. The “d3 Natural Systems” is a very prestigious international competition that invites architects, designers, engineers, and students to collectively explore the potential of analyzing, documenting, and deploying nature-based influences in architecture, urbanism, interiors, and designed objects. This is undoubtedly a significant international recognition for our students, Department and University.
