Dear All, Well so much golf has been played and so much to come! We begin this week’s golf with the weekly nine hole comp either nine any time. Thanks to Lloyd at the Mildura Dermatology and Skin Clinic for the sponsorship of this competition. Saturday bis the beginning of Golf Week and we have a ladies event scheduled at our course. The field is not large and they are to hit off from 11 .30. Our ladies are welcome to join that comp. The men are playing a stableford round and can hit off at any time as long as it doesn’t interrupt the ladies. Sunday is the Hickey, Gillies and Fitzpatrick day – Triple sixes is the game – teams of three, the best stableford score for the first six holes, the two best scores for the next six and all scores for the last six – it is a good game. Heaps of prizes on offer, it will be a super day – get your team in now, the sheet is on the board. Monday is a golf week event as is Tuesday. Wednesday has both men and ladies playing a stableford game – the ladies are playing for the trophies of Judy Dean and Bobbie Ramsay. Thursday is a golf week event. We have the clubhouse open during golf week, Those on duty are; Monday – Nev Birch Tuesday 9 – 11.30 Robert Dean, 11.30 – 2 pm Elaine Gray, 2 til stumps Nev Walker. Thursday, 9 – 11.30 – Elaine Gray, 11,30 – 2 pm Jill Eyles, 2 till the end Mick Hogan. Thanks heaps to those who have volunteered. Friday August 2nd – that’s tomorrow week we have a Camp Oven tea. Roast Lamb and vegies followed by Golden Syrup Dumplings. The meal will be served around 6.30 – 7 pm, the cost is $ 18 a head and we have some after tea activities planned – the Carlton Draught bottle top quiz. Names on the boards for that please to assist with catering. Last Saturday saw the culmination of the club championships for both men and women. It was followed by a shared meal which was enjoyed by all present. Congratulations to all the winners (Anyone who finished last Saturday was a winner I thought!). Lost in all the paper work were the men’s results – Peter Lynch used the wind to blow his ball back on course and won A grade with a nett 71, Lloyd Hale with a nett 73 was the runner up. Gary Wright continued on his winning way taking out the B Grade daily comp from Bob Chase. Well done. Yesterday the ladies had their Presidents and Visitors day – Rita’s report is below. Congratulations to Faye Englefield & Denise Morgan who won the district final of the Royal Women’s Hospital 4BBB Stableford . Fay & Denise had won the qualifying round earlier in the year at Red Cliffs, then today winners from all clubs played off in the final with the girls going on to play in the State final at Peninsula Golf Club on Friday 13th September. This event was incorporated into our Presidents Day, 4BBB Stableford and the winners of the event were Liz Leach & Chris Taylor with 44 points from the Riverside team of Jan Moore & Meg Hammence on 43 points . There were 83 ladies in the field. That’s enough for this week, Catch you on the Course, Cheers, Mick
