Dear Alumni, I am delighted to share with you details of our event of APRIL 5th 2014. We will welcome H.E. Anurag Bhushan, the new Consul General of India in Dubai. The Consul General will address us, and will be followed by Mr. Jaithirth (Jerry) Rao, well-known Indian businessman and entrepreneur, a former banker, speaker, mentor and writer. Jerry is flying into Dubai especially for our event and he will speak on something all of us have often thought about and debated, “Why does India seem to keep falling short of its potential?” The new Consul General of India in Dubai, H.E. Anurag Bhushan, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of our Network, joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1995. As a career diplomat, his overseas assignments have included Political, Information and Cultural work in Tokyo; Economic, Commercial, Visa and Administration responsibilities in Dhaka and as Head of the Political and Administration wings in the Indian Embassy in Berlin. He was also responsible for training of foreign diplomats as well as Indian Foreign service officers during his assignment at the Foreign Service Institute in New Delhi. He is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and IIM Ahmedabad. Jerry Rao is a former Citibanker and in a banking career of nearly 25 years, he served with Citi and its parent Citicorp in various capacities in Asia, Europe, South America, and North America. He was Chief Executive Officer -India, Head of the Development Division of Citicorp and Chairman and CEO of Transaction Technologies Inc., based in California. Jerry Rao is also the founder of the software company MphasiS. He has been credited with commencing Consumer Lending in India and changing the way middle class Indians live today. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Value and Budget Housing Corporation (VBHC), an affordable housing venture that he founded in 2010. He is also a founder and director of Homefirst Finance Corporation, a Housing Finance company focused on providing housing finance to first time home buyers. He is an Alumnus of IIMA, teaches there and also has another MBA from the University of Chicago. There will be a question and answer session followed by DINNER.
