Dear Amanda Wu (and all new puppy owners) have been following your post with interest - many genuinely good hints, surprise - so many dachshund puppy experts and dismay - so much negativity and in a couple of instances downright rudeness. Yes, your puppy is young but lots of puppies go to new homes at 8 weeks. Yes, he will need feeding three or even maybe four times a day. There are 24 hours in a day use them to your advantage. Feed before you go to work, leave water and food for him in his pen, feed when you get home and again before you go to bed. It is important to establish a routine from Day One. At this age he needs lots of sleep and a space eg puppy pen, to call his own. Play with him, cuddle him, love him and teach him that he is safe in his little pen during the time you have to work and have to do things at home - eg vacuuming, cleaning etc. Patience and persistence are two qualities you need to practice. He is yours for life - love him!
