Dear America, As we have walked through the ages, Man has endured - TopicsExpress

Dear America, As we have walked through the ages, Man has endured revolutions, plagues, the rise and fall of empires, genocide, and disasters innumerable. Cultures, religions, nations, have covered our world, and fallen into the dust of time. Gods have been born out of the minds of men, from the ambiguities of the world around us, and just as they were born, they were lost. In time, all things will end. By this, I do not mean that all that we know shall end at once, as so many have shouted about. No, I mean that even the great Roman Empire was merely an idea, and yet its people believed it was the end result of man’s evolution, and that its fall was the fall of man. In today’s world, we believe that the new empire, America, is the end result of evolution, and that as it is slowly toppling, man will once more be plunged into the dark ages. This is not true. So many of us are so negatively minded about the world around us, that all we see is doom. We are so secure in what we have, we fear the uncomfortable, the new. Even the “open minded” among us are unaware of just how stationary they are. You see, the reason we respect the Romans so much is usually because of their scientific advances. What we fail to recognize is that those advances all but halted in the latter half of their empires reign (excluding the eastern empire, which lasted centuries after the fall of the west). Therefore, it is obvious what happened. They strived for comfort, found it, called it the peak of civilization, and proceeded to sit on their hind ends and rot. We Americans, (and in truth, the rest of the civilized world), have done the same. After some industrial, scientific, artistic, and civil revolutions, and a few wars, we all but quit. One may argue, “What about advances like the internet, and smart phones?” well, imaginary naysayer, those are really just improvements on current luxury comforts. When is the last time we came up with something as important as the automobile? It is undeniable, America is in the beginning stages of its collapse, not in regards to politics and war, but because we have grown complacent and lazy. No longer do we have people discontent with our current culture and science. We have science fiction writers with all sorts of notions and we have whiners who do nothing but sit back and blog about it, or sometimes sit around with signs telling other people to do it. Back in the days of forward thinking, if a person was discontent with their surroundings, they got up and took the necessary steps to fix it. People like Karl Benz and Henry Ford grew tired of horses and buggies, so they created the automobile. Alexander Bell Graham was sick of telegrams so he developed a telephone. Abraham Lincoln saw the suffering of the slaves, and decided he would do anything to fix that, including dividing his own nation in war. We must go back to that way of thinking. If you want it changed, CHANGE IT. I am a patriot and I love America, but we will fall if we do not keep up that attitude of change.
