Dear Apple, Saw your new iWatch wristwatch announcement today. We know you know electronics - but have you ever thought about talking to some real watch design people? And who wants a device that requires daily charging - my phone & iPad and laptop already cause me enough grief to wire up. Remember, watches are still jewelry. Watches are still supposed to look like watches. And people paying Apple $$$$ dont want it to look like a $19 Casio plastic watch from decades ago [rubbery wrist band? Ugh! So 1980.] So Rolex and Omega and Tag etc. are safe. So is Pebble, whose design team was disciplined enough to not throw in everything but the kitchen sink, fancy color screen etc. - and instead focus on key usability/ integration, a more rational size and at least somewhat more rational battery life. Apple built a nice Electronic Wrist Tumor. Hell, it may even look slightly stylish on people even fatter than I am. Sure, itll sell to many because its Apple - , but I bet a fair fraction of folks desirous of a smart watch already have a Pebble, which will do far better on battery life - and I can see a fair fraction of these folks reverting to Pebble. Pebble now needs to step up its game on refinement, style, charging, etc. and it will have a good place in the market - theres always room for a good alternative or #2 product to thrive, especially when its their whole breadbasket - and where this is just a tiny, perhaps experimental, spot in Apples line (like AppleTV).
