Dear Archbishop Chaput: I received the enclosed letter from a family member of a resident at St. Francis Country Home for the sick and elderly located in Yeadon PA, requesting I forward the letter to you. I absolutely agree with the premise of the letter this individual has sent, but could not side with the wording of the note, rather, I decided to use my own. The elderly are the last firm believers of the Catholic religion, and what it once stood for. Their faith in God, and the church, have been let down over the years as the Catholic Church experienced issues within their own ranks while allowing the pomposity and wealth remain in the Vatican. This situation is not left to the elderly alone. Due to Catholic school closings, our children will never have the experience of learning life side by side with developing a solid faith in God. The Catholic religion is dying. Single handedly, the Catholic religion and governance is snubbing the most important people on the planet, the faithful elders and the next generation of potential Catholic soldiers. I would suggest our Holy Father in Rome consider expense reduction, yard sales of merchandise no longer valued by the Pope that would immediately generate revenue to save the religion from turning its back to elderly and children. If the rest of us middle aged individuals see this sort of activity, there may be some salvation to turn us around also. There is no review needed, as indicated in the initial letter, there is however solid action required that needs to be taken now as the world falls to the evil across the globe. The Catholic Church needs to save the religion, or end up losing the faith altogether. Tend to our elderly, with proper care, continuation of the faith, and help them meet our Maker with dignity and respect. Tend to our children by remaining a solid educational institution based on belief in God. You earned a title of Archbishop, use it to save the faith. Make it your purpose in life. Thank you, Lou Gambetta
