Dear Ashley, I am beyond proud of you. I am excited to watch you grow and develop as a stylist and person in general. Cosmetology School wont be easy, contrary to what most people think. It will tap into creative elements you didnt even know you possessed. In order to succeed, you must be open to learning. Learning 100 ways to get to a single end result. Be open to advice from 60 year old women that do hair old school and pay attention to the girl that starts 2weeks before you graduate. They both have incredible gifts to share with you. Just sort it out and take what you need, to find your own way. You will train your hands to create, perfect and polish what your mind dreams up. You will have to learn patience for all types of people. Eventually they will make up your clientele. Be kind, always. Even when they are not. You are better than that. Be prepared. You will mess up. It will most likely be BAD. And you will learn from it. Its ok. It happens. (I gave my sister a mullet one time and look at me now) You will meet people that will make your very existence begin to make sense. They will be all around you. Cosmetology isnt a career, its a calling. We all heard it. Never refer to yourself as being only in beauty school as if you are inferior. The moment you sign up, you are one of us. We are equal. We can both learn from each other. You are becoming the future of the industry I love. I thank you. Hell, I applaud you sweetheart. Welcome to an adventure that will change your life, as you change others. I will help you in any way I can. From listening to you vent about the drama queens that cry in the bathroom at school to helping you conquer the art of finger waves and anything else that you may need.
