Dear Babbzy, First let me start by saying how much I admire you. My neighbours actually got me hooked on your page. You do it all which is why I like your stuff. You can be funny, serious, educational, all rolled into one. That is really difficult and I praise you for it. I am writing this letter to you because it is much easier for me to write this anonymously. I already get ridiculed day in and day out. My issue is that I am subjected to racism day in and day out. However, I am not your typical case. I am 38 years old, male, I am a bus driver. I live in a small housing complex, and I just make enough money to get by. I have 2 children from 2 different women and I do the best I can to make sure my children are okay. You are probably wondering what the problem is right? That the average person lives like this? Well the thing is, I am a white man. People think just because I am white, I cant be a baby daddy. Or I cant be a person who is not rich. Not all white people are rich like Donald Trump. In fact, there are more not rich white people than white people with net worths in the millions. I will tell you that when people do not know who I am, I am treated with respect, because people assume that I am a somebody. But when they dig deeper and realize that I am just an average joe, I am treated like crap. Because people think that this white privilege thing applies to everyone. It doesnt. And I am ill treated at times because I am white and I am NOT rich. My father was an excessive gambler. To the point that we lost many homes and had to move from house to house when the bills were too high and we could not afford to live there. My mother, she was a baby sitter, and she ended up committing suicide when I was 17 because she felt that her life was a waste. My father is now in prison for armed robbery. He was trying to pay one of his gambling debts and ended up shooting and injuring 2 innocent people. My parents are white. I am white. I just would like you to post this letter. Because not all white people are privileged. My eldest son is 11 and he is doing very well in school. People are saying that an IVY league school is where he is headed. And I know that I cannot afford that. You would never think that a white person would be sitting here having the same worries and concerns as you right? Just remember that racism exists from all angles. I happen to fall on the other side of the spectrum. And just remember you do have white fans. Fans who are not Caribbean or African but can relate to the struggles that you Babbzy as a Canadian Bajan encounter. Believe me, we are more alike than you would think.
