Dear Birthright Families and Friends, we are writing you tonight - TopicsExpress

Dear Birthright Families and Friends, we are writing you tonight from the Bedouin Tents in the south of Israel. Last night we ended our night with a really interesting activity and discussion on Jewish identity. It was great to see people comfortable expressing their viewpoints, even when individuals disagreed with each other. Two things that were unanimous were support for Israel and remembering the Holocaust. We left our kibbutz this morning and went to visit a goat farm in the middle of the desert. We saw goats and sheep and learned about the processes to make cheese. After this we went on a nature walk (or rather, a two hour desert hike). It was very hot out and weve been drinking liters and liters of water today to stay hydrated! After lunch in Dimona, we drove to see Ben Gurions grave and learned about him and his legacy. We ended the evening with a sunset camel ride at the Bedouin tent. After a delicious Bedouin feast, our Israeli friends are now running an activity with the group. We will end the night with a bonfire with smores. Hopefully we will get some sleep since we are waking up at 3:15am to leave and drive the hour and a half to Masada and hike up for sunrise. Despite the early wake up, we know it will totally be worth it! We cant wait to update you from Jerusalem tomorrow! Erin & Shahar (Enjoy these pictures of our Bedouin dinner and camel riding!)
