Dear Bloggers, if a brand wants access to your audience stand up - TopicsExpress

Dear Bloggers, if a brand wants access to your audience stand up for yourself and demand proper payment for your time and service. Im not talking about my review posts because that is different (although lately some small brands have been asking me to also do a Amazon review with my reviews and we refuse). Were a news and review blog. Someone just sent me an email to become an Ambassador by making blog posts as disclosed paid ads. Somehow I dont think they will like my Ambassador pricing. LOOK - you build your audience and your reputation with your work. You should respect them and that. If a brand wants to build on your work - charge them properly for it. The brands sit down and go lets get a pile of cheap ass bloggers to save us millions in ads and blog about us. Theres money on the table but unfortunately I see so many bloggers sellout on the cheap. Its time bloggers quit whoring out their audience for chump change. These brands are paying someone $10-30,000 or more per event and youre willing to sell out for a Title or some free drinks. I hear about this Brand Ambassador abuse all the time. People expected to blog for trinkets or for free. Its taken me 4+ years to build my audience, I dont work for trinkets. Especially when I know someone is making big bucks taking advantage of bloggers. Look a brand will pay millions to run ads on TV,Radio, Internet etc. But bloggers have the greatest trust factor for converting sales. Why arent we collectively charging millions? Stand up for yourself and demand better pay. One of the most offensive offers I had was: I had a huge very rich brand one time give me free access to their promotion of a convention and speaker with EVEN the opportunity to interview their executives!! They mailed me a cheap trinket branded tourist cup and a USB to get in!! Meanwhile Id have to pay for my own flight across country, meals, hotels and of course Id lose money all week I could make elsewhere working for them. Roughly Id pay out several thousand dollars for this privilege. Ya big fat no. I was amazed someone would even be dumb enough to offer that but there were likely some people who took it.
