Dear Brave Souls: Solstice: That The Destruction of History of Inventions, Sciences, Arts, Depth of Intelligence in Ancient People not continue... THE SUN We were taught the ancients, in other words, our own ancestors, no matter where our blood runs like a beautiful river... our ancestors were grunting dullards unable to add or subtract, wholly unaware as some of the 19th century fathers of psychology liked to put it, claiming our ancestors -- and their own-- did not separate the dreamtime from reality and were therefor, primitive. Perhaps they never thought we would fly in aeroplanes over The Nasca Plains, seeing the huge earthworks there that can only be seen from the aerial view... Perhaps they thought we would never find the Sun Temple or the Chaco Canyon stone windows made by hand, through which the Sun, at the day of the earths cycle... light began to turn back toward our small spinning planet after a long time of shorter days and longer nights... Perhaps they thought all the dreamers had been killed and that poetry would in modern time, be only well mannered, or that moderns would never dream the old ways back into being... Perhaps they thought we all would buy that our ancestors worshiped the sun because they were so askeered that the sun would never come back, for they never paid attention to cycles when in fact our peoples paid attention to all things of sky and water and land and animals and hearts and unrest and circles circling, and things like love, like life after illness, like wanderers returning home once again... expecting that many things return again, including the Sun, for our people had lived them watched others live them many times And even the blind who can feel light through their eyelids, knew the sun would come again... and unlike how we were taught about our own ancestors, that the sun was surrounded by foolish superstition, we know that the return of the sun meant many things, including the sun using its hands of Light to knock on the doors of all the underground chaplets, saying to the seeds, Time to awaken, dear one. Touching the trees with tender warmth, saying, Time to flow upward again your golden blood, dear trees. And touching the animals and the people with golden color, saying go out naked into the warming river now, and stretch and enter the water, and I will be your cloth to dry and warm your body afterward. And so much more does the Sun say and do with its Light and its Touch, in direct return to all of Life... And too, to those of us who dream, we know also, the Sun is also the exemplar of Love ... that our ancestors knew, that we know, the Sun does not shine only on preferred ones, or worshipful ones, or good ones, or whomever is in fashion at the moment... Rather, Sun Mother Sun Father Sun Grandfather Sun Grandmother Sun shines on all. All without testing or having to apply. All science of Sun known, its fight and its fire... but/and the greatest science of Sun bursting from cold night may be that Sun shows us what to strive toward when we strive to Love. Blessed days of return of the Light. We used to light a fire outdoors at Yule. The old people said seeing the firelight dance in everyones eyes, was the meaning of this time, that not only the seed and plants and animals would come out of hibernations and winter travels, but we too were all coming back to more vibrant life before our very eyes.
