Dear Brethren, Good day to you. It’s over 6 weeks ago I sent - TopicsExpress

Dear Brethren, Good day to you. It’s over 6 weeks ago I sent this appeal and a lot has transpired between then and now. First and foremost, let me fill you in on the latest update as regards the Bus Project. The choice has been narrowed down to two: Toyota Hiace or the Hyundai equivalent as some sister fellowships on Campus have both the Foton and Nissan Urvan buses and both of them have been found not durable. The preference is to buy the Toyota Hiace which cost N6.4m, adding comprehensive insurance brings the total cost to N6.72m [at 5.5% for the first premium]. Let me on behalf of the Project Committee and Fellowship thank all those who have responded so far and have sent funds towards the purchase of the bus, may God bless you richly and multiply the seed sown towards this project in Jesus name. Pls. let me challenge you further, kindly reach out to at least 5 LVCU Alunmi who are in contact with and encourage them to all give towards this project, no amount is too small and none too big to send in. For those who are yet to respond, please don’t seat on the fence but join in by sending your contributions so that on/before the end of 2014, the Toyota Hiace bus would have been bought and dedicated to the Lord to reach out to the lost. Total receipts as at Monday 3rd November stood at N3.52m which leaves us with approximately N3.2m balance to go. The breakdown of the funds are summarised below: Funds Breakdown is as follows: Current Members N 1,309,150 Recent Alumni N 822,500 Alumni: Ohio Reunion and Others Contacted N 1,089,000 Friend: N 300,000 Therefore, the total amount raised so far is N 3,520,650 I hope that you’ll send in your own contributions towards this project in the coming days or weeks and please if God lays it in your heart to give something in addition to what has been given before, pls. feel free to do so. My wife and I are already committed to doing this by November ending. If I consider the number of Alumni registered on the LVCU Facebook page [648 members] If everyone were to send in just N10,339.51 the funds needed for the Toyota Hiace would have been raised but I know so many Alumni are not on Facebook for personal reasons. On the vision of reviving the LVCU Alumni, could I humbly request that as many that are in a position to join in the bimonthly Intercontinental Prayer Conference should do so as each one have the opportunity. Last one held on 2nd November and the next one is scheduled for 4th January 2015 at 5pm US Eastern time which works out to 11pm Nigerian time and 10pm British Standard time. Kindly contact me if you require any clarification on both the Bus Project and the LVCU Alumni. Thanks and Regards, John Oluleye .................................................................. Original Mail: From: John John Oluleye To: Several Recipients Date Sent: Friday 26th September 2014 2208hrs cc: Adekola Babarinsa (babarinsa.adekola@yahoo); gloriouslvcu7@yahoo amongst others Subject: MACEDONIA CALL - HELP WITH LVCU BUS PROJECT AND VISION OF REVIVING THE ALUMNI BODY Dearly Beloved, Greetings to you in Jesus precious name. I trust that all is well with you, your family and your vocation by God’s grace. You are receiving this mail because I got your email address from the Lagos Varsity Christian Union Alumni archive. If this is not the case, kindly delete the mail and disregard the contents. It would have been preferable that I reach you over the phone rather than this medium; however the fellowship cannot keep on waiting indefinitely until everyone is reached verbally and I must confess that the success rate for the numbers of calls made have been very low; percentage success is about 10 to 15% of calls made from the telephone directory obtained from the Alumni archive. The update as regards the bus project is that so far, N2.829m has been raised with N2.625m in the fellowship UBA bank account. The balance will be remitted on Tuesday 30th September as agreed by those in attendance [listed in the cc field apart from Bro Adekola the project Committee Chairman & immediate Past President of the fellowship] at Columbus Ohio in August. I have attached a breakdown of contributions received for accounting and audit purpose; otherwise preference would have been to leave out the names. The options available for the fellowship as regards the bus project are as follows: 1. Buy a “tokunbo” or fairly used Toyota Hiace. This was considered not expedient by majority of Alumni in attendance at the 2014 Reunion Event held in Columbus Ohio 1st – 3rd August 2. Buy a Foton bus which cost N3.2m brand new. Not a popular choice knowing the issues surrounding quality of Chinese products which varies from very poor to standard depending on final goods destination. 3. Buy a Hyundai bus which cost N4.995m brand new. Good choice based on the performance of Hyundai vehicle over the last decade in Nigeria. 4. Buy a Nissan Urvan bus which cost N5.5m brand new. Good choice based on the performance of the bus which was widely popular in Lagos in the eighties and nineties. 5. Buy a Toyota Hiace bus which cost N6.4m brand new. Very Good choice based on the performance of Toyota brand in Nigeria and worldwide. I have attached photographs of the various options except for the Hyundai that is currently unavailable, but I’m reliably informed will be available by October ending by Stallion Motors. The options are by no means foreclosed as you can feel free to come up with any suggestion as the Holy Spirit leads. However the final choice will ultimately depend on how much the fellowship can realise at the end of the day and I hope that our teeming number will not disappoint God or the current members who are looking unto God to meet their need through us. The bus is essentially to be used for village evangelism and how that aligns with the yearning of Heaven that “this good news of the kingdom is preached everywhere”. Matt 24:14. On a separate note, the issues surrounding the dormancy of the Alumni fellowship is one that calls for soul searching and a fresh perspective giving that other closely knitted counterparts such as ECU and IVCU of Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan are still alive and functioning. Towards this end, the 13 families that were in attendance at the 2014 Reunion event were led during the Family meeting to arrive at a vision of reviving the Alumni body through the establishment of chapters along geographic lines/areas. This vision has been somewhat tested by discussing and engaging a number of brethren and amongst those spoken with are Pastor Akin Oyegunwa [Lagos] {former Alumni President who took over from Bro Yomi Adewale (now Pastor Adewale) who now resides in New York}; Rev. Azuka Ogbolumani [Lagos]; Pastor Soji Toki [Abuja]; Bro Amos Adewoye [Abuja]; Pastor Bernard Jemilohun [Ado Ekiti]; Pastor Femi Adeokun [Port Harcourt]; Sis Bola Akintunde (nee Idowu) [Abuja}. It’s worthy to note that all seems to share in the vision of establishing chapters along geographic lines. I’m yet to speak with those in the United Kingdom as I seem to have lost their telephone numbers but hopefully I should get around this soonest. If you have Pastor Deji Adegbiji & Bimbo Komolafe numbers, pls. kindly email to me. By the way, It got through to Bro Dipo Akinrinlade this afternoon and reminded him about the commitment to reach out those in London and other cities in the United Kingdom. The plan is to establish LVCU Alumni chapters in various locations/regions/countries as may be deem appropriate on the globe. For example; LVCU Alumni Port Harcourt chapter, LVCU Alumni Abuja chapter, LVCU Alumni South West Nigeria chapter, LVCU Alumni Canada chapter, LVCU Alumni USA North-East chapter to mention some variants. Finally besides our giving God expects much more from each and every one and that is to pray lifting up holy hands. Remember “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man/woman availeth much” or better still as Good News version says “it releases tremendous power”. James 5:16. I’m persuaded that He that has begun the good work in us will bring it to an expected end in Jesus name as we pray for the fulfilment of destiny for the fellowship, Nigeria, the body of Christ. NOTE: Pls. kindly forward this mail to other alumni who you are in contact with and God bless you real good! There is no fixed deadline but do not hesitate to send in your contribution immediately as the current members had 31st August in mind when the project was initiated. However I have spoken to them and requested them to exercise patience till end of the current semester which ends about 31st October. I hope we can all send in our contributions on time so the bus can be available before the next session begins.
