Dear Broadway Speakers members and friends: We had a great Toastmasters meeting Tuesday. Marty served as Toastmaster. Carly provided the word of the day, “contemplative,” which means meditative or thoughtful. Saida served as grammarian while Scott acted as the timer. Greg gave his second speech from the Competent Communication Manual, entitled “Life Through the Eyes of a Cyclist.” Robert evaluated Greg’s speech and also served as Table Topics master. Our guest Rusty won the Table Topics contest. Thank you to our guests Rusty and Angie for attending! Club President’s Note: I’d like to thank Niel for preparing the Table Topic today which was based upon a book titled: “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway”; and Robert, who stepped in as Table Topics master and all of the respondents today. You all reminded me of an obstacle in front of me which I have been avoiding for four years and am now finally about to tackle. I’d also like to thank Greg for his speech because in it he talked about the value of having a coach who knows how to guide you through the particular challenges you are facing. After four years as a Toastmaster, I can honestly say I am still learning from you, our club members, from the experiences you share and the advice you provide. For those of you who have been thinking about joining us but haven’t yet found the time or courage, I’d like to personally invite you to become a member. Don’t wait another day to experience the friendship, the growth and the opportunities to share and develop your talents that I and our members enjoy. -Carly
