Dear Brooklyn: Its our last day in Puerto Rico. Weve had a great time. PR truly is La Isla del Encanto. Beautiful beaches, and a beautiful family. I spent a week with my two sisters and niece, and we are still speaking to each other - nicely. People here are special, and by special, I mean unique. Pets roam free, and by pets I mean, horses and roosters. But, my cousins keep their roosters, chickens, and geese fenced in. No, they dont have a horse. Drivers prefer to keep you guessing - turn signals are apparently taboo. Rumor has it that its okay to go through red lights if the coast is clear. But, someone got stopped for speeding (no, not me), and the cop said drive slowly because you cant predict when a horse may decide to cross the road - and they dont use turn signals either. Also, some folks idle in the middle of the road at night to catch crabs - though they may be easier to catch at the gas station bathroom down the street. Our Noll Street reunion did Bushwick proud. It was far and above better than anything I hoped it would be. Mary sang a duet with my childhood nemesis, and they were awesome! So glad my repeated wishes that he turn into an ugly toad didnt come true. We reminisced about many things, including the sound of scratching cans on the side walk and the opening of the johnny pump - not those dinky sprinkler heads - on sweltering hot days, and about how we melted an entire box of crayons on a steaming radiator. Ah, sweet childhood memories! Anyway, we arrive home on Friday morning. I cant wait to pick up Rudy from the puppy spa. Hope he had a great time, but not too good of a time that my house isnt good enough for him anymore. Miss you and hope to see you real soon. Love, Lisa
