Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, may I take a moment to remind - TopicsExpress

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, may I take a moment to remind us all of a scripture from I Peter 5:8? Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Yesterday, while I was looking for a particular picture, I stumbled upon some videos from Ikems time in the hospital. Some of you may recall my testimony, that he was found blue and unresponsive and for 30+ minutes they could not find a pulse. He consequently spent over two weeks in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit fighting for his life. Well, in one of these videos, there was a paper candy corn upon which the nursing staff had written the date 10-31-09 and announced that was the first day Ikem began breathing without assistance. Recall that yesterday was 10-31. So, at the time I discovered the video, it was exactly 5 years from the date our son turned the corner to health. I spent time yesterday just praising God for his faithfulness, shared the videos with my husband and even put the video to a soundtrack by Jen Meadows. Fast forward to 3:22 a.m. this morning, when Ikem stumbles into our room gasping for air. He wasnt just wheezing, he was struggling to breathe. I scooped him up into my arms and my husband quickly examined him and rushed to find a brand new nebulizer that he just happened to have in the house. He started him on breathing treatments and then listened to his lungs. He didnt sound good. As I cradled our son, I was reminded of the video and Gods faithfulness. I told the devil that what God has done before, He will surely do again. I silently prayed over my son. There he was still gasping for breath, a child who just a few hours before was the picture of health playing football on the sidelines for 3 hours with his friends while his big brother played the real game on the field. As the treatment began to take effect, his wheezing gradually subsided and he slept peacefully till 9 a.m. waking up with zest and a healthy appetite. I am again on my knees praising my Father in heaven, but though the storm seems to have passed, I never take the health and well-being of my children for granted. I do know that the devil continues to prowl for prey so I have chosen to remain diligent. Always watchful, ever grateful to God, ever seeking His protection. Just now, I asked Ikem what happened and he put his hands around his throat and said, I was dreaming that I was dying. And I woke up and went quickly to your room. This scenario could have played out in many ways. Kids with respiratory difficulties die in their sleep every day. But, my God in his infinite wisdom, woke this child up and gave him the strength to get to our room to alert us he was in distress. I tear up as I write this because this could have been a very different outcome. So, friends, please do not weary in praying and serving God. The devil doesnt take breaks, neither should we. Please join me in thanking my Lord and Savior who once again has championed my cause. Thank Him that my husband is a physician and was not only home when this happened, but also had the necessary treatment on hand. Thank Him that He woke up Ikem. Thank Him that Ikem has breath and is alive and hearty today. youtu.be/gkc3Tc6vfrI
