Dear Canadian Law Professionals, Please join the Osgoode Hall Law School Animal Law Society and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law Student Animal Legal Defense Fund for The Intersection of Civil Liberties and Activism. Thursday, March 20th from 6:30 to 9 PM at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Victoria College Room 212 on 91 Charles Street West in Toronto. Topics will include: an introduction to animal rights activism, access to information and surreptitious recording by activists, criminal and constitutional law issues related to protesting and activism, and ethical dilemmas of an activist’s counsel. The event is FREE and NO REGISTRATION is necessary. Speaker details: Lesli Bisgould has acted for individuals and organizations in a variety of animal-related cases in the only animal rights law practice in Canada. She is the author of Animals and the Law published by Irwin Law. John Norris maintains a trial and appellate practice in the areas of criminal, constitutional and national security law. He is a Director of the Canadian Council of Criminal Defence Lawyers. Angela Chaisson has worked with a variety of equality seeking groups, animal rights organizations, and federal and provincial governments.
