Dear City of Tingley Voters: My name is Misti Hightshoe and I would like to announce that I am running for Council Member. There are three people running for two vacancies. These people are Larry Jarred, Sue Richards and myself. The reason I am running is because I feel this town needs someone representing the newer residents and voting the way they would vote. I think we need some younger blood in on the decisions being made here. I am not putting down the current members. They are all kind people and are doing a great job but there is no one representing people like me. My husband and I own our home and are going to live here the rest of our lives so I want to have some input on what happens here and I want people who live here, but dont come to the meetings or are not friends with the current council members, to know they have someone that is here WANTING TO MAKE FRIENDS, WANTING TO GET TO KNOW THE PEOPLE IN THIS TOWN AND WANTING US TO HAVE A FRIENDLY TOWN THAT WE CAN ALL ENJOY. I have created a facebook page for Tingley. It is called Tingley Iowa Friends and Neighbors. I made it in hopes of us all getting to know each other. The REAL people we ARE. Not who people have HEARD we are. I am so sick of the way some people in this town lie and spread rumors. It causes GOOD people to want to just stay in their homes and keep to themselves, hiding to avoid lies being spread about you. That is DAMN SAD! I dont want to live in a town like that. We all deserve a better environment. Lets chat on facebook, on the phone, have bar-b-ques in the park. Lets do it in a way that EVERYONE TRULY FEELS WELCOME. Right now there are groups of people that go to things like this. Lets engage with each other and get to know who someone really is. I for one would like to be judged, if you are someone who really feels you have the right to judge, by my actions. I dont want to be judged by things liars have made up about me. I hope we can all put those stories behind us and move forward with a more positive attitude. Thank you all for taking the time to read this message.
