Dear Colleague, With rising fossil fuel prices, impending shortages of such conventional fuels and stricter environmental regulations, a growing number of cement-, lime- and energy producers are rethinking their fuel strategies. In addition, many waste management companies, institutional- and private sector investors, communities and even governments worldwide have started to discover the advantages in the use of waste-derived and biomass-derived alternative fuels. We are pursuing the latest developments with great interest and are glad to see that indications are pointing to change and that the popularity of alternative fuels is rising. These developments reconfirm our longstanding decision to focus on our core business: providing concepts for efficient and environmentally-friendly utilisation and reliable supply of alternative fuels. Within the last 10 years our multilingual team has grown steadily, we have expanded our network and have realised a growing number of projects worldwide. This progress reinforces our belief that we are on the right track. For our company, it is time for change as well! We move to our new premises in Duisburg- Ruhrort on the 31st of March 2014. The new office provides more space for our growing team and is situated in the “creative quarter Duisburg – Ruhrort”, the logistic heart of the “Ruhr Metropolis Region”. This area is an important logistic hub in Germany and offers many advantages: the world’s largest inland port, Germany’s second biggest port, many notable, international logistic companies are based in the direct neighbourhood; major highways and Düsseldorf airport in 20 minutes distance only. In addition, Duisburg is the biggest steel production location in Europe- transforming from heavy industry to environmental sound production. We believe that Duisburg-Ruhrort provides the best environment to meet our customers’ needs in a growing market. Time for development – new workshops In 2014 we will continue our successful series of workshops dedicated to the implementation and development of alternative fuels. In June 2014, we organise a workshop in Mexico City- with participation of well-known international equipment suppliers such as FLSmidth Pfister, Schenck Process, Fives Pillard among others. In October, there is one workshop planned to be held in Tetouan, Morocco, and in Autumn 2014 – celebrating our 10 years company anniversary, an International Alternative Fuels Symposium will be held in Duisburg – Ruhrort, Germany. Time for progress – AFR Handbook We are proud to announce, that our Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials Handbook for the Cement & Lime Industry has reached already 600 cement-, lime- and waste management companies as well as universities and professionals around the world! Our handbook is the first and the most comprehensive manual covering the entire range of aspects of alternative fuels and raw materials providing you with essential and consolidated knowledge on, among others: • preconditions for utilisation • effective quality management • state-of-the-art technologies • logistical requirements • characteristics of more than 50 different substances The theoretical information is rounded off by facts and figures, useful experience of the authors, practical examples and tips for the daily work and handling of AFR materials.
