Dear Colleagues, Comenius Project ENERGY EFFICIENCY We use our energy efficiently and look at the future safely under the title Energy Efficiency...... Target group is students aged 15-18 ...... Partners agreed are Bulgaria and Romania ( Some others are still thinking) SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT Energy efficiency is a concept that complements the objectives such as security of energy supply security, reducing the risks arising from dependence on foreign energy, sustaining the costs, increasing the efficiency of the fight against climate change and protecting the environment. Nowadays, in which the importance of sustainable development is getting understood more and the value of the efforts towards energy efficiency is increasing at the same rate. In this context, energy efficiency is of the utmost importance from energy production and transmission, the unconscious use and presentation of waste and reducing the energy intensity both in terms of sectors and macro level. With industrialization, the problems of the growing cities have grown up and started to show effects exponentially in worldwide. Today, the important issues such as waste, climate change, acid rain, water pollution, air pollution, etc. are global problems not only regional. All of these environmental impacts occur as a result of human activities, due to carbon-based industrial life and excessive and unconsciously use of resources. Our goal through the project is to determine energy efficiency activities in our schools and to contribute to the creation of a joint action plan by comparing these practices. Thus, the students’ awareness of energy efficiency will increase thanks to compiling and sharing of energy applications . In this way, adopting of a common European culture through social and cultural interactions will be accepted and will be contributed to the development of inner-communal dialogue. Location of Our School and its history Alaşehir (Turkish pronunciation: [aˈɫaʃehiɾ]), in Antiquity and the Middle Ages known as Philadelphia (Greek: Φιλαδέλφεια), i.e. (city of) brotherly love is a town and district of Manisa Province in the Aegean region of Turkey. It is situated in the valley of the Kuzuçay (Cogamus in antiquity), at the foot of the Bozdağ Mountain (Mount Tmolus in antiquity). The town is connected to İzmir by a 105 km (65 mi) railway. It stands on elevated ground commanding the extensive and fertile plain of the Gediz River, (Hermus in antiquity) presents at a distance an imposing appearance. It has several mosques and Christian churches. There are small industries and a fair trade. From one of the mineral springs comes a heavily charged water popular around Turkey. Within Turkey, the citys name is synonymous with the dried Sultana raisins, although cultivation for the fresh fruit market, less labour-intensive than the dried fruit, gained prominence in the last decades. As Philadelphia, Alaşehir was a highly important center in the Early Christian and Byzantine periods, and remained a titular see of the Catholic Church. For more, Please visit Alaşehir : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alaşehir Manisa : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manisa_Province Izmir : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/İzmir_Province My Project Team - Firstly me Can Yesirgil ,as the responsible person for our schools Comenius team, we have a very supporting staff and management at school. - The municipality of Our Town is going to be very helpful to host our guests.Mayors have given promises to support us as they did in other Comenius project of other schools. - The Aegean Region,where we live, is the homeland of many ancient civilizations,from Romans to Greeks or older ones and is called Turkish Riviera because of its wonderful beaches and colorful nightlife. - The House of Virgin Mary and the magnificient Ephesus ancient city are close to us and they will probably be visited during the exchange visits. - The plan in our town will be flexible,so we will try to perform our guests wishes on where to visit or what to do etc. - The students who will join the project will be selected carefully according to their knowledge of English,intellectuality,human relations etc.The students are accepted to our school after a difficult exam and they are certainly hardworking and special.I believe they will contribute to the project very much. - All guests will be met at the airport personally by me. As a summary, our students and staff are very eager and we will do everything to make our guests happy.I promise everyone to make sure that you will have a lifetime experience here.
