Dear Colleagues, I am very pleased to report that the American University of Cairo Press has agreed to do an updated, corrected version of my Islamic History through Coins, which is both a catalog and a study of the numismatic material produced by the Ikhshidid dynasty (323 - 58/935 - 69) of Egypt and Palestine. The downside is that it will only be done as an electronic publication but since everything is in black and white, printing one¢s own copy will not be a major problem. I have found a number of errors on my own including some of the Arabic and an incorrectly printed date. I am confident that there are more errors two of which were shared with me by William Barrett. Some of you may have spotted others and I hope that you would be willing to send me that information so that they may be corrected in the second edition. I also know that at least one new type has appeared in a sales catalog, but I suspect that there may be more. Again, I ask for your input and request that you share with me any new types you have found on your own or in the literature. All input can be sent to me at [email protected]. I hope to start work on the project in Cairo from mid-December so I would appreciate hearing from you before then. Thanking you in advance. Sincerely yours, Jere JERE L.
