Dear Common Core, I have gone to meetings about you, watched the new language arts and math homework my children have gotten, and find myself scratching my head and having to look at times what the heck something means. My mom said this reminds her of the new math or something like that was implemented in the 70s and later disappeared. I just dont see how this is going to improve education, and I see a heck of a lot of new textbooks, workbooks, etc., that must have cost public schools oodles. Was math being taught wrong before? Was language arts curriculum that bad? Maybe the real problem of academics was less parent involvement, more busy work, less interventions for kids who needed it, and then having some poor teachers thrown into the mix?
