Dear Confreres and Consoeurs, Today is one of the traditional Feast Days of the Order of Saint Joachim. November 4th does not appear to be a traditional feast day of any saint associated with our Order, but in our early history it was one of the two dates (the other being June 20th, the anniversary of the founding of our Order) when the Order assembled, admitted new members and advanced others. George Charles Louis, the reigning Count of Leiningen-Westerbourg was installed as Grandmaster on 4 November 1784. On November 4th members of the Order assembled at the seat of the Grand Master to review the state of the Order, conduct any business required, and pay their respects to the Grand Master. Women members traditionally wore black on that day and men the uniform of the Order. While our Orders investitures now are generally held close to the June 20th date, I invite you to take a moment today to observe our other traditional feast day and think about the foundation stones on which our Order was raised - charity, brotherhood, tolerance and service. JUNXIT AMICUS AMOR With warmest fraternal regards, H.E. The Chevalier Stephen Lautens GCJ Lord of Prior’s Hall, Lindsell Grand Master The Order of Saint Joachim
