Dear Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan (CON), RE: RESOLUTION OF THE - TopicsExpress

Dear Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan (CON), RE: RESOLUTION OF THE NATIONAL ECONOMIC COUNCIL (NEC). Your Excellency Sir, the National Economic Council (NEC) met today and several Memos were presented to the Arc. Namadi Sambo (GCFR) chaired NEC meeting and several far reaching resolutions were reached. One of such resolution was the training of 7,400 Nigerian youth for the purpose of building capacity in the transformed power sector. Sir, NEC resolved that each State Government including the FCT is expected to train 100 youths while the Federal Government will be training 100 youths in each State of the Federation under this scheme. Delta State by reason of this development is expected to have 200 youths under this scheme trained to provide human capital for the power sector. It is my prayer to His Excellency that Isoko ethnic nationality should be given her equitable quota under this scheme. We have had programmes in the past were the youths of Isoko are either deliberately or erroneously excluded. Recall also that some months back, Mr. President had made a special scholarship arrangement for non-violent youth in the Niger Delta. As we speak, there is no record of any Isoko youth in that programme. We have seen our brothers from Izon and Itsekiri massively benefiting from that arrangement. We do not want to believe that being peaceful is a crime. This initiative is therefore an avenue for the authorities to correct every inequality the Isoko youth have suffered in the distant and recent past. Also important to note that an affirmative action in this direction will help restore the confidence of the Isoko youth in this administration having remain non-violence during the days of militancy. Let it be place politely on record Sir that we shall be monitoring this exercise closely and will touch base with our legislators at both Federal and Asaba to ascertain the implementation of the principle of equity on the subject. Accept the assurances of my esteem considerations, please. Yours sincerely, Emerhana Onoriode Paul, Esq. Cc: Powell Tos Ojogho Areh Sunday Hon. Johnson Erijo Hon Benjamin Essien Okiemute Hon.
