Dear Facebook, As you may well know my Birthday is just around the linear, time-line bend, and I have not made any concrete plans. My Birthday lands on Sunday 16th of March, a weekend, where-in all possibility lies and I am free of the clutches of employment for the day. Visions of cake and cuddles amidst beautifully decorated tea-houses fill my head, friends abound with smiles plastered on their faces and iPhones (or galaxies - not hip with the new technology) in hand taking snaps of the occasion. All photos I am sure will be uploaded and tagged appropriately to you, Facebook, as it is your duty to tell our story. What plans I envisioned, have changed, for this morning (like every morning before) I read the news. Yes, I read the news, or at least some of it. The same small part that takes my fancy every day, not for lack of wanting a life of blissful ignorance, but simply I cannot stop caring. I suffer from the human condition you see, too much empathy. Each day a new bill gets put forward, or gets past. A new bill which forces me to question my identity, ethics, morals and future security within a country run by the Liberal Party. Maybe, you too, have been suffering with this human condition, or caught a glimpse of the current situation and thought this is all too much. That is why I am attending this event! To March in March and show a collected stance of dissatisfaction for the current governments actions. Yes, I will march, but for how long… Well, a recent bill has been passed permitting police to arrest individuals in protests. Arresting people in protest? I did believe Australia valued its right to free speech, but Ill hand it to them, they did pass that one at the right time. Just before 15,000 disgruntled Melbourne (and surround) residents assembled to indicate a distaste for the direction we are moving. I will be one of those 15,000 people. Just one, of many. But has anyone asked why so many people would take time out? Why so many people are disgruntled? What has the Liberal Party done that has been so damaging, to force out these kind of numbers? Ill leave it there and hope to see you all make an effort to be here. It is time to take a stand now!
