Dear Facebook Family, On the campaign trail, I talked a great deal about the lack of arts education in our schools. I have devoted my professional life towards providing arts education within our schools and so I am proud that our new Comptroller Scott M. Stringer has taken this issue on as a top priority in the new administration. The shortage of arts education is disproportionately acute in low-income areas like the South Bronx and central Brooklyn, according to the report. More than 42 percent of the schools that do not have state-certified arts teachers are clustered in those areas.
