Dear Facebook, Last night a really good friend of mine was shopping at Wal-Mart for groceries with her friend. In the process of paying for the three carts, one accidently was missed and not paid for. She was pulled back as soon as her first step was taken outside of the store and was told “Step back, this is Wal-Mart Protection Department.” Right away she realized that she forgot to pay for it and asked if she could pay for it and even offered to pay for her food and more for compensation. Unfortunately, Wal-Mart security took her into a locked room and her friend, also a person of color was asked to come into the room. The friend’s response: “Why do I have to come to the room? Here’s my receipt!” Against their will they were both taken into the room, as well as their ride from Wal-Mart whom came to pick them up, was also taken into custody. The security department locked my friends in the room even though they tried to explain that it was a mistake, but Wal-Mart called the police and is now charging my friends with a 5-year/$10,000 charge, with possible deportation as a result of this possible felony at the expense of a mistake. They refused to talk to the security guards and when they asked to speak to the manger, they were denied. Another reason why Wal-Mart is such a horrible place.
