Dear Facebook friends: In the early hours of Saturday morning in Melbourne our dear and beloved family friend Helen Symeonakis, wife of Geoff Masters, daughter of Vasiliki Symeonakis and sister of George Symeonakis - lost her long battle with cancer and passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family. For those who know the family this is not the first time they have watched a loved one die from cancer - their grief is enormous. The family are arriving from Melbourne this evening to prepare for the inevitable funeral processes of which we will all be informed,. possibly Thursday or Friday of this week at the Profitis Ilias Church in Norwood. George Symeonakis for those that know of him, is not a man of few words - he has an opinion about most things but when I spoke to him today to ensure his time of arrival and how he was coping said very few words to describe his grief - moments after the call i received a link to a most amazing Byzantine Chant and in his text said - I am speechless-but this is the chant that I played for Helen in the last hour of her life with us and can only hope that it helped her in her passing over. When I listened to it - I had goosebumps and became very tearful and responded to ensure him that his choice of chant was absolutely beautiful. My response: There is no doubt in my mind that her journey was fluid and her transient soul passed so elegantly to the other side....I have a sense that Mary and Sophie heard the chant that connects these three beautiful women and were waiting patiently for her to arrive... There is so much peace and serenity in this chant that evokes emotions so deep. Sadly all three sisters have died from Breast cancer - George remains the only child left to Vasiliki Symeonakis. George is an amazing godfather to Zaf my daughter and an amazing friend to me and my family. Helen will be sadly missed Please pass on to anyone that may know of Helen and Geoff of her passing.
