Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students: Tomorrow is for many of us a day in which we reflect on the many reasons we have to be thankful. As such, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to all of you. I know that our adjunct and salaried faculty work diligently to deliver on an excellent education for our students. I see the fruits of your labor in the scholarship being produced and the continuous levels of engagement with communities locally and around the country. Please know how much I appreciate your efforts. Our staff - a small but mighty group of individuals - demonstrate everyday a passionate commitment for students and for the university. Each staff member has my deepest thanks for all the many hours you devote on a daily basis to serve students, faculty, and administration. Of course, our university would not be who or where we are today without all of our students. To each of you, thank you for choosing Saybrook; for bringing your skills and talents to our institution. Thank you, as well, for the passion you exhibit each day for your research and the sincere desire to make a difference in this world. In my conversations with many of you, I am in awe of how each of you manage all that you do on top of realizing your dreams to obtain a graduate degree from Saybrook. I am also grateful for the deep level of engagement so many you have demonstrated with respect to planning for our future. As I write this, I am looking with excitement at the draft strategic plan to be reviewed by our Saybrook 2020 Advisory Council this next Monday - a product that I believe will position us for a bright future. On this Thanksgiving Eve, please know how appreciative I am for the opportunity to serve as your president, a privilege I remain grateful for everyday.
