Dear Families and Friends of EURAFSWA, Another great week of support to the Fleet, Fighter and Family. I continue to be extremely proud of all the things we have accomplished as a team, especially as we continue to set the standard for professionalism, dedication to mission and commitment to our Shipmates, both uniformed and civilian. Its amazing to me how much we have accomplished in the first three months of 2014. This week, we had the opportunity to host the Region Installation Commanding Officers for a business meeting, providing me and our Region team an opportunity to listen, coordinate and collaborate in person with our Installation leaders. We focused on a wide range of topics important to all of us that will positively and effectively position EURAFSWA for continued success well into the future. Im proud to serve along-side the highly accomplished commanders of our installations. The COs told me repeatedly that the Region team is key to their Installations success. I couldnt agree more! You should all be justifiably proud of your part in that success. On Wednesday, the Navys Chief of Information announced the winners of the Calendar Year 2013s Russell Egnor Navy Media Awards. These awards are named in honor of Senior Chief Journalist Russell D. Egnor, who served the Navy for more than 40 years as a highly accomplished journalist. The program recognizes excellence in Navy journalism, photography, videography, and graphic arts among public affairs and visual information specialists. EURAFSWA is proud to have MC1 Eric Dietrich, of Camp Lemonnier, named as Mass Communication Specialist of the Year (Reserves), and The Panorama Newspaper of Naval Support Activity, Naples awarded 3rd place for Civilian Enterprise News Publication. Also, MC2 Tony Curtis of Naval Air Station Sigonella was recognized for his photo entitled Reunited Again, which received 1st place in the Photo-Picture Story category. Well done by all and keep up the great work! As we move forward into spring, please continue your focus on ensuring our Region is ready, relevant and capable. This is the key to enabling and supporting our Sailors, Navy civilians and their families; our most important resources! As always, take care of yourself, take care of your shipmates, and take care of your family! RDML Jack Scorby Commander, Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia
