Dear Family and friends, Update on chemo 1 and 2: Well - TopicsExpress

Dear Family and friends, Update on chemo 1 and 2: Well round 1 was a real blast on this 67 year old body! I lost 24 puonds, was in the ER twice, had severe hallucinations, and was on isolation for 2 i/2 weeks for my white blood count. However, the 200 tumors on my skin, including my eyelids, have melted like butter. For my nurse friend and roommate Ellen (who I sometimes call Nurse Rachett), she continues the drives from Dr.s to labs, to chemo, keeps me germ free, is working on a diet that is compatible with chemo and of course great laughs!! Once again I must thank everyone at Ironwood Cancer and Research. They give me so much positive energy! My Dr. Low is from Malaysia. His best friend was the co-pilot of the plane shot down over the Ukraine. I could only touch his hand and look him in the eyes and say Im so sorry. My big visit was a brief drive and visit to Tucson visiting my daughters: Aaron and Frank and Robin and Rachel. And of course my baby Rylan Parker!! I believe once they saw me they became so relaxed at my progress. For those of you who put politics on Facebook- I love it! I think a great level headed debate is wonderful. When I look at the terrible violence around the world, Im so proud to be an American! For ther beautiful pictures you post and gentle words, they make me feel so serene. Thank you Mike Middleton, Glynis Fetter, cousin Cani and my special childhood friend in Sun City. Thank you for sharing your Cancer and recovery with me. I have only felt positive about beating this disease. For the calls and re-connections with special people, the kind words and laughs...You make me better in so many ways that you will never know. I am now on an experimental nausea patch which Medicare will not cover..yet they will pay $4,000 for an ER visit... I would like to thank a very special couple for paying for this for my 1st and 2nd chemo rounds. I feel so humbled! Now as I approach Chemo round 3 for a 6 hr session I have gained 15 lbs back and lost my hair, my hands and feet are numb and I have fuzzy vision- but darn Im happy! There is a chance I will lose my fingernails...I put 5 coats of Sally Hanson hard on my nails! Good luck Chemo! For your prayers and wisdom- Thank you Love Berta PS. Please look to the sky and say some special words for my kid brother Randy. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer the same week that I found out about my lymphoma. He will have his operation on Oct 13th. My lord I wrote a book, next time I will be brief!!
