Dear Fathers, Our daughter’s need us. They need to know how much we love, respect and believe in them. They need to know that we support their dreams and pursuits. That they can be a doctor, CEO, mechanic or teacher. Yes, tell her she’s beautiful, but don’t stop there, tell her she’s strong and powerful too. Teach her about money and that she is equally worthy of it as any man. Show her that the X-Men aren’t all men and that women are Jedi too. Give her a baseball hat and work gloves, but let her style your hair and paint your nails. Show her how to cut the grass, use a wrench and start a fire and let her see you cook, bake, clean and do the laundry. Teach her about the dangers of social media, intoxicating substances and how to avoid compromising situations. Choose words and actions that demonstrate your respect for the female body. Tell her that a man who belittles, objectifies or disrespects her is a man lacking confidence and not worthy of her time. Make sure she knows that she can come to you in her darkest moments and that you will be there to listen. Let her know that you are a father who will support a generation of women leaders and that you’ll teach it to your boys too.
