Dear Fellow Americans, Between the recent assaults against women on the University of Florida campus over the past few weeks, the continued spike in rape cases throughout the country, as well as the newest video released on the Ray Rice domestic violence attack, I am in shock of the treatment of women in this country. Not only are these actions both horrible and disgusting, they further prove how much this country still needs to learn. As Americans, I think we are made to believe that our country is well ahead of the rest of the world in regards to gender equity. Well this is a gender equity issue. The initial thought that violence against women is a permissible act shows that we as a nation need to make major changes. These changes need to start with each of us. Females need to start standing up for their fellow females and males need to start standing up to their fellow males. So please, take care of each other. Recognize and act upon harmful situations being made towards others both mentally and physically. It is not one persons fight, one genders fight, or one nations fight. This fight belongs to everyone. Please continue to spread this message. I am not giving up on the good in others.
