Dear Florida, If youre still not sure about Rick Scotts character, allow me to explain why this lawsuit matters. See, he set up these gmail accts so that he and his staff could conduct email traffic off-the-books. This is a problem because the governors email job-related email activity is a public record; hes paid by you, the tax-paying public. (Sort of like your boss wouldnt like you conducting company business on your private email, especially when the company could get in trouble for the stuff you do.) Once you realize that hes hiding some portion of his job-related activities, you logically start to wonder what hes doing that needs to be kept off the record. Whatever it is, hes so determined to keep it hidden that he refused to provide the records in legal proceedings, even when a judge ordered him to do so, and he filed his own lawsuit to try to avoid the judges order. But since were so close to the election, hes not bothering to show up for his own lawsuit -- its sole purpose was a delay tactic to ensure that you, Mr. and Mrs. Public, didnt see his hidden emails until after November. Mission accomplished.
