Dear Friend, Id like to illustrate todays devotional from John 18:38 with a passage from my book, Living on Our Heads: Righting an Upside-Down Culture: Two thousand years ago, Jesus of Nazareth encountered a culture that had also turned a lot of truth on its head.... The apostle Paul described the decaying culture as one in which many people had exchanged the truth of God for a lie. Jesus waded into every public forum in the culture and declared I am the...truth. And in each place, He gave them an opportunity to reverse that exchange--to trade deception for reality. When Pontius Pilate encountered Jesus in the context of a phony trial, Jesus told him: ...for this reason was I born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me. Pilates reaction to that frank declaration was to do what a lot of the upside-down thinkers of our day do--whip out the old freshman Philosophy 101. What is truth? Pilate muttered. The unspoken answer was, Youre looking at Him. Pastor Rod Parsley
